Our minds evolved, but we have to deal with the same genetic make-up as people thousands years ago. We are still stubborn, despite our learned eagerness to compromise. We are still judgmental, despite our active attempts to be open-minded and inclusive.
We are flawed.
The rage that the world is going through today shows that our learned open-mindedness has become a habit. It shows that we are not afraid of our own voice. It shows that our compassion has grown beyond what our ancestors could possibly imagine.
Let's focus on that. Let's not focus on division, but instead heal our collective heart.
All events in our lives happen for a reason. And so it is true for the rest of the world, for all of us together.
We are being taught, and we have to learn. To learn to rise above our fears and be uncomfortable. To learn to give more and to focus on each other. Because we have each other. And as we grow together, the world grows.
It is just a lesson, and we will learn.
